CS12-80 Lowers – Setup 6 Done, Setup 7 Incoming.

As the title says, setup six on the CS12-80 lowers is now done.  Happened so fast I didn’t even do a “rolling” post with pictures like usual.

I did take some pictures for you guys though:

This setup was just for drilling and tapping the pistol grip retention screw hole, so as you can see, the part is held at a funky angle to facilitate that.  The pictures themselves are pretty self explanatory (I hope).

Now I’m on to setup seven, which is the last one (oh, thank God) on the lowers, and it’s just a single little slot in the top of the part to make clearance for the bolt lock to live in after you’ve finished the lower.  Shouldn’t take real long at all.

Then it’s on to the jig plates.

Hope you guys are all staying healthy and alive out there.  Don’t let the Kung Flu (or the Quarantine Gestapo) getcha!

That is all.

  1. beautiful work thanks for the pics. I love the idea to make these open up like a sandwich, so cool.

    1. Had some equipment issues that needed to be ironed out, so things got delayed.

Just have a few more days on the lowers and they’re done.

I’ve got the first of the lathe parts setup and ready to run as well, so things are moving forward, just haven’t done anything picture worthy for a while, so I don’t have any shiny new pics to post an update about.

Hoping to be done with the lowers by the first of next week, but we’ll just have to see how it goes.

      1. How is the project coming? Last update you posted was in April. Very excited to see these lowers complete

        1. I’ve been stuck on this last piddly setup for something like four or five weeks now.

Instead of any one big problem I’ve just had about a dozen little irritating ones that have eaten up all that time.

I had machine problems that I got sorted out, then my truck had to have the entire fuel system stripped out and rebuilt, and in the middle of that I got sick for like ten days (not the Rona, some kind of stomach thing), so that’s still not done, and on and on.

I’m really hoping to have the truck done by the first of next week, and then I’ll be able to give the shotguns all the attention they need.

Basically, we’ve slipped a month. Hopefully the stomach thing is almost behind me now. I did pretty good for a few days last week, enough to get some time on my truck again, but then today it had me down again, so I don’t know.

I AM getting closer to finishing the project. Once I get this last setup hammered out, the lowers will be done. That just leaves the jig plates, firing pins, bolt locks, and bolt lock thumb studs, none of which are anything like as complicated as the uppers and lowers were.

If I can stay up and going and the machines can too, I think I can have it all done and ready to ship in about a month, but I thought that in June too, so we’ll just have to see how it goes.

Things ARE getting done, the pace is just too slow for everyone’s liking (mine included).

          1. Super excited to read this update from you! Missed the pre-order and fingers crossed on getting one of the leftovers.
Thanks! Hope you stay safe and healthy!
